Brothers Cleaners was originally founded in Raleigh in 1916 by Emil Hilker, a German immigrant. Emil’s twin son’s, Jerry and Jim Hilker assumed ownership of the business after his retirement and ran it successfully until the mid 1970’s, when they went their separate business ways. I just happened to be outside when my Thursday scheduled pick up occurred. Always glad to see Bill and have a few quick moments to catch up but to my surprise I ended up introducing myself to our New route driver David. Very pleasant chap. Sorry to learn Bill will no longer be there but, he does have a life beyond servicing his route and we wish him the best. He was always terrific with Ginger, she'll really miss his whistling tunes and scratch under the chin. Thanks Bill for all your years of service.
