Brothers Cleaners was originally founded in Raleigh in 1916 by Emil Hilker, a German immigrant. Emil’s twin son’s, Jerry and Jim Hilker assumed ownership of the business after his retirement and ran it successfully until the mid 1970’s, when they went their separate business ways. At that point, the business was handed over to our current owners, twins Tom and Bob Hilker, the third generation to continue their family legacy. I have been coming to Brothers Cleaners for over a year now. I, absolutely, enjoy the convenience of the Atlantic Ave. location. They have a hard-working staff that gets my clothing back to me quickly, and notifies me when it's done. The customer service is excellent. I have been to other cleaners that have lower costs, but have never been happy with the way my clothing comes back, and the amount of time it takes for me to get it.
