Although not officially incorporated until 1957, Comet Cleaner’s history dates all the way back to the 1920’s where founder R.L. “Jack” Godfrey opened his first dry cleaning store. Comet Cleaners has remained in the Godfrey family ever since, with Jack Godfrey, Jr. becoming the third generation to own and operate the franchise. Fast good service and love that I can pick up and drop off at drive through.
Three stars because the work is good, but the customer service is abysmal. I used Comet Cleaners when I lived in Nacogdoches, TX and the service there was fantastic. Moving to Lafayette, I gravitated to Comet because of that experience. What a difference. While the Comet in Nacogdoches was always friendly, prompt and courteous, in Youngsville I was “greeted” by a young woman with a sucker in her mouth. I dropped off my bridesmaid dress to have tailored on Black Friday. I apologized for being last minute because the wedding was the following weekend which is today, Dec 2nd. The seamstress was so sweet and understanding. She told me the dress would be ready Monday, which gave me so much relief. I came by Wednesday and it wasn’t ready yet.
